Choosing Bridal Lingerie & Hosiery

The bride to be's guide to choosing the perfect bridal lingerie and hosiery to ensure your wedding day goes without a snag and you feel comfortable and sexy all day.

What is under your wedding dress is as important as the dress itself. Choose your bridal lingerie and hosiery to suit your taste but also bear in mind your partner. Consider that it has to be comfortable and work with your wedding dress.

Lingerie
If you think your wedding lingerie should be all about seduction then look for sets that include lace and silk. You could choose a black or red colour but be sure that it remains hidden under your wedding dress. If you'd prefer a more traditional colour, opt for for white champagne or caramel shades.

Choose your bridal bra according to the shape of your wedding dress. Ask yourself; Is it an a-line dress which requires a strapless bra? Is it a halter-neck? Then choose your dress accordingly. The long-line strapless bra with incorporated corset is the most common bridal bra which suits most dress styles.

When choosing knickers avoid any with too much added fussy detailing that might be seen through the dress.

When you're deciding which under garments to wear, think about comfort and whether you can actually easily wear it for the whole day. The last thing a bride wants to notice on the day is an ill fitting bra. Memories of the day shouldn't be marked by bra straps you can see in the photos.

If you'd like underwear that is more supportive and can help hide any wobbly bits - why not opt for a body shaper which can really smooth your silhouette. There are a variety of options that target the waist, stomach, and thighs. Alternatively, you could go for a total body slimmer. If this option appeals because of the finished effect but you're not really sure it's seductive enough for your wedding night, why not bring along a change of lingerie that you can slip into before your new husband catches a glimpse.

Hosiery
You can add to the overall look of your wedding outfit with a pair of tights. If you're feeling nostalgic, choose a pair of 1940's inspired seamed tights or even patterned tights. If you're having a more traditional wedding, choose a pair of sheer tights. Often brides use hold up tights and a garter belt instead of body slimming underwear.

If you're having a summer wedding and you're wearing a floor length gown you won't have to worry about hosiery. It is also a good idea to take a back up pair of tights in case you get a ladder.
