Finding an Officiant for Your Wedding

wedding officiant

Not sure what makes the ideal wedding officiant? Let our handy guide give you a few pointers so you can be sure that you get the service you want for your wedding.

Deciding who you want to carry out your wedding service is a very important task. It's vital you feel confident that you will get the service you deserve in the tone and manner you were expecting. Leave nothing to chance, whatever your beliefs do your research before your big day and ensure you feel as happy as can be.

Non Secular
A Justice of the Peace could officiate your wedding. You can find one in your area in the phonebook. You could also get a referral from someone who has previously been wed by a Justice of the Peace. Call or arrange a meeting with the ones nearest to you and learn a bit about their personality and how they would go about officiating.

If you're planning on getting married at a registry office, you'll find a few officiants here. Just make an appointment and look forward to an efficient and flexible style.

Why not consider asking a Friend or Relative to officiate. You will of course have to go through the usual channels to get the marriage certificate.

Secular
If you are getting married in a house of worship, your job is a lot easier. You could still meet with them to discuss any questions you might have and you can decide you are comfortable with their style.

If you are not particularly religious but like the idea of getting married in a church or by a religious officiant, you will have to talk to the house of worship in your area to ask if it's possible for you to get married there. Remember that every officiant has their own style, so it might be a good idea to attend a worship service. When you have decided on an officiant, you should meet with them to make sure they are available for the date you have in mind and also to discuss what you want the wedding to be like.
